Care & Tips

  • Never allow children to walk or play on top of your cover
  • Covers are designed to prevent pool accidents but are not replacing ADULT SUPERVISION around the pool area
  • CLEANING YOUR COVER
  • Leave the cover over the pool and spray water with a hosepipe evenly over the surface.
  • Use a soft broom and scrub the cover lightly, rinse again and suck the dirty water off.
  • Do not use chemicals, soap or detergents on the cover.
  • When running your pool cleaner underneath, the cover the path can be affected by the cover and cause it to miss spots. You need to open the pool periodically and run the pool cleaner when the cover is off.
  • Pool floaters should not be used with a cover. They will reduce the life of your cover and void the warranty. Pool floaters are meant to move around in your pool, but they stay in one place under your cover and will burn the material
  • SALTWATER CHLORINATORS DRASTICALLY REDUCES THE LIFESPAN OF A PVC COVER and voids your warranty.
  • Regularly check your chemical levels in your pool with a test kit to maintain balanced chlorine levels and a neutral pH. Your need to add chemicals will reduce substantially if your pool is covered. High chemical levels will reduce the life of your cover and void the warranty.
  • Make sure the water level is always high enough to support the cover or the eyelets may tear out and damage the cover.

WARNING!!!

  • A child can drown in rainwater accumulating on top of a solid cover. Always drain standing water off as soon as possible. A manual drainage tool is provided free of charge and electric rainwater removal pumps are available to purchase (please enquire about pricing)

  • Ease or tighten the tension on the hooks by adding or removing (pump to waste or backwash) water to or from the pool
  • Inspect all anchoring points periodically and make sure that a young child cannot undo the hooks from the plates
  • Rollup station for cover with hooks and plates
    • We recommend the installation of a roll-up station to ease the handling of the cover.

  • High frequency welding repairs can only be done at our factory, and it is the customer’s responsibility to carry in and collect

WARNING!

  • A child can drown in rainwater accumulating on top of a pole cover. Always ensure drainage holes are open so rainwater can drain through the cover.
  • Never allow children to walk or play on top of your cover
  • Covers are designed to prevent pool accidents but are not replacing ADULT SUPERVISION around the pool area
  • Regularly check your chemical levels in your pool with a test kit to maintain balanced chlorine levels and a neutral pH. Your need to add chemicals will reduce substantially if your pool is covered. High chemical levels can reduce the life of your cover.
  • SALTWATER CHLORINATORS DRASTICALLY REDUCES THE LIFESPAN OF THE PVC COVER and voids your warranty.
  • TENSION AND OPERATION
    • Ease or tighten the tension on your cover with the ratchets. Take care not to over tighten as this could damage the cover.
    • When the material is straight without dips between the poles you have enough tension.
    • Always make sure when opening or closing the cover that the cover rolls and is not dragged across the paving. Dragging the cover over paving will cause the material to wear through and is not covered by the warranty.
    • If a ratchet becomes stuck or difficult to operate, use thin machine oil (like Q20) to loosen the mechanism.
    • Inspect all anchoring points, and straps periodically and make sure that none of the anchors have come loose or that the straps have been compromised (worn or loose stitching).
  • CLEANING YOUR COVER
    • Leave the cover over the pool and spray water with a hosepipe evenly over the surface.
    • Use a soft broom and scrub the cover lightly, rinse again and make sure all your drainage holes are open (If you are concerned about the dirty water going into the pool you can also do it next to the pool).
    • Do not use chemicals, soap or detergents on the cover.
  • REPAIRS
    • High frequency welding repairs can only be done at our factory, and it is the customer’s responsibility to carry in and collect
  • A pool safety net should support the weight of a small child in such a way that the child’s head is always well above the water of the pool.
  • The water level of your pool must be more than 150mm (6 inches) below the top of the coping tile
  • Regularly inspect your net for dog bites – even dogs who do not like to swim will chew on a safety net
  • If you find your dog start to bite the net then spray the net with a dog repellent and get the net professionally repaired
  • Regularly inspect all the anchor points to see if they are still secure
  • A new net, not under tension may shrink when exposed to sunlight – always store your net in the shade or under cover.
  • Pool safety nets are designed to prevent pool accidents but are not replacing ADULT SUPERVISION around the pool area.
  • Children should not be allowed near a swimming pool without responsible ADULT SUPERVISION AT ALL TIMES
  • A leaf catcher is not a safety device because a small child can easily crawl to the middle of the pool and start to dip into the water
  • A wet leaf catcher is heavy under its own weight and can start to sag – taking it off the pool and letting it lie in the sun to dry out should make it “shrink” a little and reduce the sag
  • It is important to keep children and pets off leaf catchers – regular “traffic” on a leaf catcher will cause it to wear through on the edge of the pool and cause damage

THIS IS NOT A SAFETY DEVICE

  • Do not use pool floaters under a pool blanket – this will damage the blanket in a short time
  • A folded or rolled Solar Pool Blanket must be protected even during short periods of direct sunlight, to help extend its life.
  • Delamination due to such improper exposure of the solar blanket to direct sunlight will result in voiding the warranty
  • Maximum recommended temperature for storage in the shade is 35 C. I f there is no convenient shade area near your pool, the cover should be covered with a light coloured opaque/white cover.
  • To help prevent damage to the bubbles, the Blanket should not be dragged over abrasive pool decks, or any sharp rough surfaces.
  • NEVER LEAVE ON LAWN: If the Blanket is removed for trimming or cleaning remember its solar heating ability. The lawn can be burned in less than 20min if the pool blanket is left in one place.
  • Water temperatures above 35 degrees C may also shorten the life of the Solar Pool Blanket and could even damage a painted pool
  • CLEANING: Most dirt and leaves can be hosed off the floating blanket directly into your pool skimmer.
  • Run the circulation pump during such hosing to send debris into the skimmer and through the filter instead of into the pool.
  • Water and a soft brush are generally al that is required to remove heavier grime and algae from the Blanket.
  • A CLEAN BLANKET ALLOWS FOR MAXIMUM SOLAR ENERGY HEATING.
  • After cleaning the Pool Blanket it is best to roll it up from one end. It should then be stored in a shaded or protected area below 35 C.
  • CHLORINE USE: The Blanket will help maintain normal chlorine levels.
  • Fixed dosing can result in “higher than normal” concentrations of chemicals.
  • This will reduce the life of the Solar Pool Blanket if left unchecked.
  • High levels of cyanuric acid will drastically reduce the lifespan. This is typically found in floating chlorinators and some other pool chemical treatments.
  • Saltwater chlorinators will also reduce the lifespan of the blanket.
  • Test your pool water regularly for high chemical levels
  • Minor damage to the blankets can be repaired at our factory if brought in by the customer
